Dhaka, July 6 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has dismissed concerns over political divisions on national security, saying differences of opinion among parties are natural and do not reflect disunity among the people.

Speaking at a national dialogue organised by the Foundation for Strategic and Development Studies (FSDS) on Sunday, Fakhrul stressed that the people of Bangladesh have historically stood united in times of crisis.

"Some have tried to claim there is division, but this is not among the people," he said. "There may be differences among political parties, and that is completely normal."
