Dhaka, July 11 -- A former Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal leader has been shot dead in Khulna, with his leg veins severed.

The incident took place around 1:30pm on Friday outside house in the West Maheshwarpasha, said Daulatpur Police Station chief Mir Atahar Ali.

The victim, 38-year-old Mahbubur Rahman Molla, was the former vice-president of the Jubo Dal's Daulatpur unit.

Citing locals, Atahar said Mahbubur was cleaning his car outside his house when three men arrived on a motorcycle and attacked him. They shot him and slashed both of his legs. One of the attackers wore a helmet while the other two did not.

Locals rushed him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His body has been kept at the hospital morgue.
