Dhaka, Jan. 6 -- Police have pressed formal charges against 17 people in connection with the killing of Inqilab Moncho convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
Among those accused are Taizul Islam Chowdhury Bappi, a former ward councillor in Dhaka, and Faisal Karim Masud.
Shafiqul Islam, an additional commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch, said the murder was carried out as part of a plan allegedly orchestrated by Bappi.
Bappi previously served as a councillor in the Dhaka North City Corporation and as an organising secretary of the Dhaka North unit of Jubo League, the Awami League's youth affiliate.
