Dhaka, Jan. 19 -- The Election Commission (EC) has begun publishing the gazette of polling centres for all constituencies ahead of the general elections slated for Feb 12.

EC Deputy Secretary Monir Hossain said the gazette publication started on Jan 15, following approval of the final list for each constituency by the commission.

Under the Representation of the People Order (RPO), the final list of polling centres must be published in the official gazette at least 25 days before voting.

For the first time, citizens both abroad and within the country, including three distinct categories of voters, are eligible to vote through postal ballots.

Over 1.53 million citizens have already registered for this system.
