Dhaka, Dec. 17 -- The Amar Ekushey Book Fair has been postponed to Feb 20 due to the national elections and will continue through to Mar 15.

The decision came at an emergency meeting at the Bangla Academy on Wednesday afternoon, according to a media statement.

Per the "unanimous decision", it said, this time the fair would formally open at 11am on Feb 20, a Friday.

After the interim government tentatively set early February for the parliamentary elections, before Ramadan, the Bangla Academy initially planned to advance the fair to December.

A notification on Sept 28, however, announced the suspension of the December schedule, following recommendations from the home ministry.
