Dhaka, Jan. 31 -- An explosion in the kitchen of a restaurant called Pasta Club in Dhaka's Wari has injured several people.

Eight of the injured have been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The injured said that the incident occurred around 10:15pm on Friday. They believe it was caused by a gas cylinder explosion in the kitchen.

Those undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital are Shah Alam, 45, the hotel cashier; and employees Yunus, 30, Sourav, 25, Mehedi, 25, Mostafa, 27, Abir, 22, Jasim, 28, and Kamrul, 20 -- all identified with a single name.

Yusuf Sheikh, who brought the injured to the hospital, said the explosion occurred on the third floor of a building in the hotel's kitchen.
