Dhaka, May 27 -- Bangladesh will know the date of Eid-ul-Azha on Wednesday evening, when the National Moon Sighting Committee meets in Dhaka to determine the start of the Islamic month of Zil Hajj.

The meeting is set for 6:30pm at the Islamic Foundation hall and will be presided over by Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain, according to a media statement issued by the foundation on Tuesday.

The public has been asked to report any sighting of the new moon by calling (02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916, 02-41050917), sending a fax (02-223383397 or 02-9555951), or notifying their local district or Upazila administration.

If the new moon is seen, the month of Zil Hajj begins on Thursday and Eid will be on Friday, Jun 7.
