Dhaka, Feb. 22 -- Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has assured teachers that they will no longer need to stage street protests to realise their "fair demands", as the government is prioritising the education sector.

The minister made the remarks on Sunday during an exchange of views with the Shikkhak-Karmachari Oikya Jote at the ministry's conference room. State Minister Bobby Hajjaj was also present at the meeting.

"Since many issues were not included in the new budget, immediate implementation of all demands is not possible," Milon said.

He promised to place the demands before the prime minister for consideration.
