Dhaka, Feb. 18 -- Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said Bangladesh's education sector needs a "pole vault jump" rather than incremental change to bring about meaningful reform.

Speaking at the Secretariat on Wednesday, a day after taking oath, Milon said sweeping improvements were required in the sector.

"In our education sector, not just a high jump, but a pole vault jump is needed," he said.

A video of Milon running and leaping into parliament on the day he was sworn in as an MP recently went viral. On his first day at the ministry, he again used a sporting analogy to describe the scale of reform he believes is necessary.
