Dhaka, Oct. 30 -- "Promotion-deprived" lecturers of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) General Education Cadre have demanded that those eligible be promoted by Nov 12.

They warned of a work stoppage if their demand is not met.

The lecturers staged a sit-in demonstration at the Shikkha Bhaban premises starting Thursday morning to press for the demand.

Sajal Ali, a lecturer appointed to the education cadre from the 34th BCS, presented a written statement at a briefing in the afternoon.
