Dhaka, Jan. 11 -- The Election Commission has reinstated the candidacy of Nagorik Oikko chief Mahmudur Rahman Manna for the Bogura-2 (Shibganj) constituency in the upcoming 13th parliamentary election.

The decision was made on Sunday after the commission heard Manna's appeal against the rejection of his nomination papers.

The appeal hearing was chaired by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin.

Earlier, on Jan 2, Manna's nomination had been rejected by the returning officer following scrutiny due to procedural and documentary irregularities in his affidavit.
