Dhaka, June 29 -- A group of Dhaka University students have staged protests over the rape of a Hindu woman in Cumilla's Muradnagar.

They brought out a procession around 1am on Sunday from Jagannath Hall, which marched and ended at Raju Sculpture via VC Chattar.

The students chanted slogans condemning rape and calling everyone to take action against the crime.

Cumilla police said in a statement that prime suspect Fazr was detained and beaten over allegations of raping an expatriate's wife at a village in Muradnagar on Thursday. Fazr then fled the area.

Some people took a nude video of the incident and shared it on social media, sparking criticism at home and abroad.
