Dhaka, May 14 -- A student of Dhaka University has been "stabbed" to death while riding a motorbike through Suhrawardy Udyan near the campus.

The victim, Shahriar Alam Sammo, 25, was reportedly attacked late Tuesday night.

A student of international relations from the 2018-19 session, Shahriar lived in Room 222 of Sir AF Rahman Hall.

His friends said he was involved in student politics and served as the literary and publication secretary of the Chhatra Dal's hall unit.

Shahbagh Police Station chief Khalid Mansur confirmed the incident and said an investigation is under way.

Shahriar's classmate Ashraful Islam Rafi said the incident occurred near the Mukto Mancha of Suhrawardy Udyan.
