Dhaka, Nov. 18 -- The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has reported that 198 murders have taken place in the capital this year, averaging nearly 20 killings per month.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of DMP's Media and Public Relations Division, shared the figures, claiming police had solved most of the cases.
Referring to the killing of Jubo Dal leader Golam Kibria in Pallabi, he said police are conducting a "detailed investigation".
"One suspect has been detained so far. We have begun the process of identifying others involved, including the gunmen. We hope to uncover the motive and bring all those responsible to book as soon as possible."
