Dhaka, Dec. 16 -- A group of students at Dhaka University has burnt the effigy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The students said they are against "aggression" and oppose India's "intervention" and action to "tarnish Victory Day's image".

Shouting slogans such as "Delhi or Dhaka; Dhaka, Dhaka"; "Indian aggression, people will resist", the students burnt the effigy in front of the DUCSU building at 5pm on Tuesday.

The students also plastered a sticker near Madhu's Canteen for people to step on.

Riyad Jubah, one of the organisers, said people strongly opposed Modi on different occasions, including the time when he visited Bangladesh during the tenure of the ousted Awami League government.
