Dhaka, Feb. 13 -- A total of 7.42 million ballots have been cancelled in the referendum on implementing the July National Charter, accounting for around 10 percent of all votes cast.
The referendum was held on Thursday alongside the national election.
On Friday, Election Commission (EC) Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said the overall referendum turnout was 60.26 percent, based on combined results from 299 constituencies.
Turnout in the parliamentary election stood at 59.44 percent, calculated from 297 constituencies, as voting in two seats was postponed.
According to seat-wise data released by EC spokesperson Ruhul Amin Mollik, there are 127.7 million registered voters. Of them, 76.95 million participated in the referendum.
