Dhaka, July 4 -- A derailed freight train carriage has been removed from the tracks at Uthli Railway Station in Chuadanga, restoring nationwide rail connectivity with Khulna five hours after the incident.

Train services resumed around 11pm on Friday, said station master Mintu Kumar Roy.

Earlier, around 5:45pm, a Khulna-bound freight train heading to Sirajganj derailed at the station, halting train operations between Khulna and the rest of Bangladesh.

Following the derailment, two major services -- the Sagardari Express bound for Rajshahi from Khulna and the Nakshikantha Express travelling from Dhaka to Khulna --were stranded en route, leaving passengers in discomfort and uncertainty.
