Dhaka, May 29 -- The well-marked low over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining area has intensified into a depression. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised all maritime ports to keep local cautionary signal No. 3 hoisted.
Meteorologist Bazlur Rashid said the depression could intensify further and turn into a deep depression. Though it would cause more rainfall, no cyclonic storm is "expected," he said.
Dhaka and other parts of the country have been experiencing rainfall due to the depression since Thursday morning.
Bazlur told bdnews24.com, "It will rain for two to three days. Then the depression will move towards Khulna and the Sundarbans."
