Dhaka, Jan. 26 -- The High Court has suspended the Election Commission's decision to scrap the nomination of Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan, the BNP candidate for the Cumilla-10 constituency in the 13th parliamentary election.

As a result, the party leader, who initially filed his nomination papers against the party's decision, can now contest the polls.

The BNP has written to the Election Commission (EC) to give him sheaf of paddy symbol as a candidate for the constituency, said Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the party's National Standing Committee.

Mobasher also spoke at a BNP election rally in Cumilla's Suagazi on Sunday night. Party Chairman Tarique Rahman had introduced the sheaf of paddy candidates at the rally.
