Dhaka, Dec. 20 -- Security has been ramped up across Dhaka as large crowds gather for the funeral prayers of slain political activist Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.
Police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel were deployed along Manik Mia Avenue and in surrounding areas, including the National Parliament complex, on Saturday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police said around 1,000 officers equipped with body-worn cameras were stationed in the area to monitor the situation and maintain order.
People began arriving from parts of the capital early on Saturday, many in small and large processions. Some were seen carrying or wearing the national flag, while others chanted slogans demanding justice for Hadi's killing.
