Dhaka, June 16 -- The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered the publication of newspaper notices summoning ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan to appear in court to face charges of crimes against humanity.

A three-member ICT panel headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumdar issued the order on Monday after prosecutors informed the tribunal that the accused could not be arrested.

On Jun 1, the tribunal issued arrest warrants for Hasina and Asaduzzaman after taking into account five charges of crimes against humanity related to the suppression of last year's July Uprising.

At the time, the tribunal set Jun 16 to review progress on their arrests.
