Dhaka, July 1 -- The prosecution has petitioned the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) to frame charges against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, and former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun in a case related to crimes against humanity during the July Uprising.

On Tuesday, ICT Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam made the request, prompting defence lawyers to ask the court for more time to prepare their case.

Later, the three-member tribunal headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder scheduled the next hearing for Jul 7. The court proceedings were broadcast live by the media.
