Dhaka, May 17 -- A Magura court has set Saturday to deliver the verdict in the much-discussed child rape and murder case in Magura, just two months and eleven days after the incident.

The trial has reached its final stage in a relatively short period, raising expectations for swift justice.

On Mar 6, the 8-year-old child from Magura's Sreepur Upazila was allegedly raped while visiting her sister's house.

A week later, she died at Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

On Apr 13, the investigation officer, Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md Alauddin, submitted the charge sheet at the Magura Chief Judicial Magistrates Court.
