Dhaka, May 13 -- A tribunal is set to deliver a verdict in the much discussed case over the rape and murder of an 8-year-old child on May 17.

Judge M Zahid Hasan of the Magura Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal fixed the date on Tuesday, according to Public Prosecutor Monirul Islam Mukul.

The trial proceedings began last month after the tribunal indicted four suspects in the case.

The suspects in the case are Hitu Sheikh, Sojib Sheikh, Ratul Sheikh, and Rokeya Begum. Hitu is the father-in-law of the child's sister, Rokeya is his wife, and Sojib and Ratul are their sons.
