Dhaka, Nov. 18 -- A court has issued an order to freeze 33 bank accounts under the names of former home minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir and his wife Sitara Alamgir.

The accounts had more than $62.8 million, says the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz issued the order on Tuesday after hearing the ACC's petition.

Md Riaz Hossain, the court's bench assistant, said that ACC Assistant Director Mohammad Shahjahan Miraj filed a petition for an order to freeze these bank accounts.

The petition said 33 individual accounts of Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir and Sitara Alamgir at various branches of IFIC Bank, Bangladesh Krishi Bank, City Bank, Dutch Bangla Bank, Exim Bank, Mercantile Bank, Padma Bank, Jamu...
