Dhaka, June 26 -- A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former expatriates' welfare minister Imran Ahmed and former state minister for shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury.
The order was issued on Thursday by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib following two petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to ACC spokesperson Akhtarul Islam, the petitions were submitted by ACC Assistant Director Khorshed Alam, who sought restrictions on the ministers leaving the country. The court approved the requests.
The ACC has prosecuted both of them on charges of accumulating assets beyond means.
