Dhaka, Nov. 25 -- Sheikh Bashir Uddin, commerce advisor to the interim government, has been granted exemption from the murder case of Vargo Garment officer Sohan Shah during the July Uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamshed Alam issued the order on Tuesday, based on an interim report submitted by the investigating officer.
The Deputy Commissioner of the DMP Prosecution Division Mia Mohammad Ashish bin Hasan confirmed Bashir's exemption.
Typically, after investigation, the police submit a chargesheet or final report to the court. However, under Section 173(a) of the amended Criminal Procedure Code, enacted via ordinance on Jul 10, a suspect can be exempted based on an interim report during the investigation.
