Dhaka, Nov. 22 -- Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sabbir Faiz has said people expect the police to fulfil their responsibilities, not showcase their authority.

Addressing police officers on Saturday, he said the public is eager to appreciate their work.

All they want, he said, is "sincere behaviour, cooperation and duties performed with a welcoming attitude".

Speaking at a police-magistracy conference, he said investigations into many significant and high-profile cases were progressing and that rapid disposals were being achieved. But, he added, these developments often do not reach the wider public.

He stressed that regardless of who the offender is, justice must be ensured and citizens must be informed about it.
