Dhaka, May 15 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has arrested a man, who it says is the "special assistant" to former Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, in connection with a murder case during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

The accused, SM Kamal Haider, was arrested on Thursday morning, the CID said in a press statement.

The statement, however, did not clarify in which part of Dhaka he was arrested.

During the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, an individual named Abdullah Siddique was shot dead near the Patam Restaurant in Dhanmondi on Aug 4, according to the CID.
