Dhaka, April 23 -- A moderate heatwave has been sweeping over Chuadanga, sending temperatures soaring and leaving residents struggling with intense heat and humidity.

The southwestern district recorded a maximum temperature of 39.5degC at 3pm on Wednesday, Jaminur Rahman, chief of Chuadanga Meteorological Office confirmed.

He said the highest temperature of the day was logged at 39.6degC in Jashore and Pabna's Ishurdi.

The extreme heat has hit daily wage earners the hardest, forcing many to brave sweltering conditions for their livelihoods.

As per meteorological classification, temperatures between 36degC and 38degC indicate a mild heatwave, 38degC to 40degC constitute a moderate one, and 40degC to 42degC is considered a severe heatwa...
