Dhaka, Feb. 3 -- The strike by Chittagong Port workers and employees in protest against the lease of the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) to a foreign company has entered its fourth day.
The 24-hour shutdown began at 8am on Tuesday. Called by the Chittagong Port Protection Struggle Committee, it brought all activities to a halt, including the loading and unloading of containers and break-bulk cargo from ships berthed at various jetties.
Since morning, no vehicles have entered the port for cargo transportation, and port equipment has remained idle. The work stoppage by port workers and employees will continue until 8am on Wednesday.
