Dhaka, Jan. 29 -- The 3-year-old boy abducted by a battery-powered rickshaw driver has been rescued from Gainbandha.

CID Special Branch Superintendent of Police Badrul Alam Molla said on Thursday that the child has been rescued unharmed.

A battery-powered rickshaw driver abducted Hisan Rahman in Dhaka's Mugda.

His mother Sumaiya Akhter Mili said she briefly left Hisan in the rickshaw while she got off to buy water.

While she was paying, she looked back and saw the rickshaw had left with the child.

Mili has filed a kidnapping case with Mugda Police.

A physiotherapist by profession, she returned to Bangladesh from Switzerland last year with her son. Relatives said the child's father is an expatriate in Switzerland.
