Dhaka, Feb. 18 -- The official Facebook page of the chief advisor of the interim government has been taken down. The press wing-run WhatsApp group has also been formally shut down.

In a statement on Wednesday on behalf of the erstwhile interim administration chief Muhammad Yunus, the press wing said the verified Facebook page with 4.4 million followers would no longer remain active.

"Thank you! The official page of the chief advisor of the interim government will no longer remain active. We sincerely thank everyone for their support, interest, and participation over the past 18 months. Your support, cooperation, and criticism have made our journey more valuable and enriching," the statement read.
