Bangladesh, Sept. 3 -- A tribunal has sent a man to jail until his death for raping a teenage girl in South Keraniganj's Aganagar in 2021.

Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Munshi Md Mashiar Rahman delivered the verdict on Wednesday.

The convict, 55-year-old Abu Sayed Molla, is originally from Khulna.

The tribunal also fined him Tk 100,000. Failure to pay will result in an additional year of imprisonment.

According to the tribunal's prosecutor Md Ershad Alam, the court ordered the Dhaka district magistrate to seize Sayed's movable and immovable properties and use the proceeds to compensate the victim.

After the verdict was announced, the convict was issued a sentence warrant and sent to jail, he added.
