Dhaka, Feb. 20 -- The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has insisted that the capital market must remain free of "garbage," with any misleading or unverified information removed immediately.

BSEC Chairman Khondoker Rashed Maqsood said journalists are actively helping in this process by exposing irregularities, manipulations and rumours that can generate unfair profits in the market.

On Friday, he spoke at an Iftar organised by the Capital Market Journalists' Forum (CMJF) for Dhaka-based market reporters, highlighting the need for more in-depth reporting.

He said the capital market is "extremely sensitive", with information impacting prices instantly.
