Dhaka, Feb. 10 -- Canada has reiterated its commitment to deepening relations with Bangladesh, with a focus on trade, investment, and governance reforms, as the two countries continue discussions on a Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement, or FIPA.

Ahmed Hussen, Canada's international development minister, conveyed this stance during a meeting with Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus at his office in Dhaka's Tejgaon on Monday.

"Businesses in Canada will feel encouraged if FIPA is signed. They will see it as a signal," Hussen told Yunus, underscoring the potential benefits of the agreement in expanding trade and investment ties.
