Dhaka, Dec. 12 -- Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep concern over the shooting of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, an independent candidate in the Dhaka-8 constituency and convenor of the Inquilab Mancha platform.

Hadi sustained serious injuries after being shot in the capital's Bijoynagar area after Friday prayers.

He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital by rickshaw following the incident.

Calling the attack "completely unacceptable" in an election atmosphere, Yunus said the incident was a grim reminder of the threats facing the country's political environment during a sensitive time.
