Dhaka, Feb. 19 -- A head-on collision between two buses in Madaripur has left two dead and at least 10 injured.

The accident occurred around 11:30am on Thursday at Melkai on Dhaka-Barishal Highway, according to Dasar Police chief Md Tarikul Islam.

Police said the Imran Paribahan bus was travelling out from Barishal, while the oncoming BRTC bus was bound for Dhaka.

Both buses were crushed in the collision, with one vehicle's rear smashing into a van parked on the roadside.

Fire Service and police teams rushed to the scene to rescue victims.

Khokon Jamaddar of Kalkini Fire Service said, "Two people died at the scene. Their bodies have been handed over to police."
