Dhaka, June 19 -- The United Kingdom will support Bangladesh in its efforts to build a democratic, inclusive and prosperous future, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke has said.

Speaking at a reception in Dhaka marking the birthday of King Charles III, the envoy reflected on political upheaval in the country and renewed Britain's commitment to working closely with Bangladesh in the months ahead.

"Since we celebrated his majesty's birthday last year, Bangladesh has undergone monumental change," she said.

Cooke described July Uprising 2024 as "one of the most significant moments in the country's history".
