Dhaka, Jan. 22 -- The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in Mirpur on the first day of the election campaign.
The BGB said in a message that the move aims to preserve law and order ahead of the parliamentary polls.
The BGB personnel have been deployed only in Mirpur.
Photos sent by the border force show personnel were deployed near the Mirpur-10 intersection and the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) premises.
The zones fall under the Dhaka-15 constituency, covering Mirpur and Kafrul.
A couple of days ago, clashes broke out between activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami and BNP when Jamaat activists were campaigning in support of their leader Shafiqur Rahman in Pirerbagh. Tensions flared following the incident.
