Dhaka, Feb. 12 -- The BNP has described the 2026 election as "free and fair" and said its victory is "certain".

The remarks were made on Thursday by Mahdi Amin, spokesperson for the BNP's Election Management Committee, at a press conference.

"By establishing the people's right to vote, the victory of the [BNP's electoral symbol] paddy sheaf -- that is, the victory of the BNP -- is assured in a free, fair and acceptable election," he said.

"Since the people's right to vote is going to be established after a long time in this election, there are many emotions, desires and feelings centered around it."

Amin, who is also an advisor to BNP chief Tarique Rahman, raised allegations against rival political forces.
