Bangladesh, Feb. 15 -- BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has questioned plans to hold local government elections before general elections.

He reminded the interim government of its responsibility to hold parliamentary polls first, saying: "Free and fair elections can be held under a political government, but to ensure that, a government must first be formed through parliamentary elections."

"If local government elections are prioritised - does it mean they are doubting that people will vote for political parties and fair elections will be held under them?"
