Dhaka, Jan. 24 -- The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has rejected allegations by Jamaat-e-Islami that it has reached an agreement with India to return to power, describing the claim as "total propaganda".

Mahdi Amin, spokesperson for the BNP's Central Election Steering Committee, clarified the party's stance during a press conference at the party chairperson's office in Dhaka's Gulshan on Saturday.

The remarks follow a speech a day earlier by Jamaat-e-Islami deputy chief Syed Abdullah Md Taher at a rally in Cumilla, where he accused a political party of "once again reaching a compromise" with India to return to power and selling Bangladesh in the process.
