Dhaka, Jan. 28 -- Warning of possible conspiracies at polling centres on election day, Tarique Rahman has urged party activists to remain vigilant, saying the public would not allow any attempt at vote-rigging this time.

The BNP chairman made these remarks on Tuesday at an election rally held at the Bhawal Rajbari ground in Gazipur, whilst travelling from Mymensingh back to Dhaka.

Taking the stage around midnight, he addressed the crowd: "You must head to the polling stations on the 12th. Do not just go after your morning prayers; perform your Fazr prayers in congregation right in front of your respective polling centres.

"This is to ensure that no one else can occupy those spaces in advance."
