Dhaka, Feb. 7 -- BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has arrived in Thakurgaon to lead an election rally, marking his first visit to the district since 2003.
He took the stage at the Government Boys' High School grounds at 11:45am on Saturday.
Thousands of activists greeted their leader with thunderous applause as he entered the venue, with Tarique waving back to the crowd in acknowledgement.
Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP Media Cell, noted that it was in this very district on Jan 4, 2003, that Tarique initiated the grassroots union representative conferences.
