Dhaka, Feb. 14 -- BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is holding his first formal press conference following the party's sweeping victory in the parliamentary election.

The briefing started at 3pm on Saturday at the ballroom of the InterContinental Dhaka.

At 3:26pm, the BNP chief, dressed in a black coat and wearing a smile, entered the hall to a standing ovation from party leaders present.

He raised his hand to greet journalists before taking his seat on the stage alongside Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

This marks Tarique's first full-scale press conference after the election.

He returned to Bangladesh on Dec 25 last year following more than 17 years in self-imposed exile in London.
