Dhaka, Feb. 16 -- The BNP, which won an absolute majority in the recent general election, has called a parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday.

BNP National Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said, "After the newly-elected members of the BNP in parliament take their oaths of office, a parliamentary party meeting will be held at 11:30am. The meeting will be held at the parliament building."

"The leader of the parliamentary party will be elected at the meeting. As the leader of the majority party, our party Chairman Tarique Rahman will be named prime minister, In Sha Allah."

The BNP won 209 of 299 seats in the 13th national parliamentary election.
