Dhaka, Nov. 25 -- The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has requested an extension of the registration period for postal voting to benefit overseas Bangladeshis.

On Tuesday, a delegation met Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka's Agargaon to make the appeal.

Registration for postal voting began on Nov 19 via the "Postal Vote BD" app, divided across eight regions with separate deadlines.

The party called for an extension of these deadlines.

After the meeting, BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said: "In countries with a large number of overseas Bangladeshis, many live in remote areas where registration is difficult.
