Dhaka, March 31 -- A clash and running battles have ensued between BNP and Awami League supporters in Natore's Lalpur Upazila after 'Joy Bangla' slogans were shouted following Eid prayers.
The incident took place on Monday noon in the Ramkrishnapur Chini Bottola area in which one person was shot.
Four BNP supporters and a journalist were also injured.
Lalpur Police Station chief Nazmul Haque said police raided Ramkrishnapur village following the violence and detained nine Awami League supporters for questioning.
Security forces, including the army, brought the situation under control.
The injured have been identified with single names as Sabbir, 24, Sujat, 30, Mohasin, 27, and Zia, 46.
