Dhaka, July 2 -- Bangladesh have crashed to a heavy defeat in the first ODI against Sri Lanka after a shocking middle-order collapse saw seven wickets fall for just five runs.
The defeat on Wednesday at Colombo's Premadasa Stadium gives Sri Lanka a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Put in to bat, Sri Lanka recovered from early blows to post 244, built around skipper Charith Asalanka's commanding century.
In reply, Bangladesh folded for 167 despite being 100 for 1 at one stage -- a dramatic collapse sealing a 77-run defeat.
Tanzim Hasan struck first, removing Pathum Nissanka for a duck.
Taskin Ahmed then removed Nishan Madushka and Kamindu Mendis inside seven overs, reducing the hosts to three down early.
